Not to point out the obvious, but how could we possibly be sincere asking a being we find no rational reason (evidence, valid/sound logic, etc) to believe exists?
It would be like a Hindu asking you to sincerely ask the Hindu god to respond to your question. Could you possibly be sincere in that case?
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
