My problem with religious books is that people take them so literally. I see Holy Books much like poetry, people interpret them differently. It's also the cherry picking that people use one thing and use it as a fact, to support their point ofview. However, point out a conflicting point from the same book (which the bible contradicts itself endlessly) and suddenly it's "it's not supposed to be taken so literally".
It's that literal thinking that has shaped so many cultures around the bible, quran and other books.
