I don't think there's any argument that fresh tastes better. And if you have a plot of land ready to grow them and can eat fresh seasonally, it's super cheap. But you do have to spend money to "save" money so if the plot's not already there then it doesn't matter.
People aren't necessarily lazy or somehow worth less because they buy canned, and getting all superior like Aractus was when he doesn't understand the American system of food isn't doing anything but making him look like an ass.
