Spend time looking for insights into 'the why' after you've dealt with 'the what' . Before then, asking 'why' is just a form of mental masturbation and a way of avoiding personal responsibility,in my brutally frank opinion.

Only natural; My friend you say you are smoking too much weed. Too much is if it is harming you or interfering with your enjoyment of life. It can do both. You are already addicted if you are unable cut back or stop.

It's not for me to even suggest what you should do.I will not judge you,and will support you in any way I can if you want. Please PM me at anytime.

Thanks so much padraic, I know that there are no easy answers, but it really helps to hear others' experiences. I say too much because my physical health suffers, I'm unable to cut back or stop, and it really gets in the way of my responsibilities. I'm also quite afraid to stop because I used to be terribly anxious and depressed, and I've convinced myself that the weed is keeping all that at bay. I see a therapist regularly as a sort of 'maintenance' treatment for the mental health stuff, but I haven't been able to commit myself to tackling the addictive stuff yet with her... I think I understand the 'why' behind it all, but I hear ya, to really come face-to-face with the 'why,' I'd need to stop doing the 'what.' And that can be the really scary part, facing those inner demons head-on.

Thanks again, it means a lot. I don't want to monopolize this thread, so perhaps I will PM you at some point.
