Not all atheists are this way, but it seems there is a presumptuous certainty from a lot of them.
Sorta like many Christians I know.
Quote:They seem so convinced there is no God, and seek fit to make fun of and belittle those who just want to believe. There seems to be sort of a strain of intolerance, and an inability to accept they could possibly be wrong ( that's why they are atheists not agnostics !)
Christians seem so convinced there IS a god and make fun of and belittle those who don't, then cry persecution when the nonbelievers strike back. By the way, you are incorrect. Atheists aren't atheists because of any inability to accept a possibility of being wrong. If after all your time here, you have not learned that by now, sadly, you never will learn it.
Quote:I see this hatred and intolerance toward theists manifest in different, sometimes petty ways.
Why are so many theists hellbent on trying to prove to nonbelievers that faith is all we need. Why can't those same theists simply show atheists the proof they want? You know tangible, physical proof of the existence of any god?
Quote:It's like some atheists... just don't like people who are different from them. . Sometimes the intolerance gets to be downright hateful and angry.
Oh the irony.
Quote:A dear friend of mine from church was at a gay pride parade this summer. He was just there to talk to the homosexuals gathered, to give them a "different" or "diverse" take on their lifestyle and their consequences. Instead of treating him with respect and dignity the gays ( and one scary lesbian!!!) screamed at him, spat at him and said he was a "creepy fascist" and should "fudge off!"
Honestly, he should have minded his own damn business. What right did he have to do that? What message was he trying to send, exactly? If he was there to tell people they were wrong for their choices, no wonder why he got zero respect. Being gay is not a choice. A person doesn't just wake up one day and decide that today is the day they are going to be gay. It doesn't work that way and shame on your "friend".
