That's what I find so hilarious about the continuing debate. Laying aside the problems of prohibitionism...if you're going to ban something, ban the right goddamned thing...is that too much to ask? Hell, If you wanted to reduce gun crime and gun deaths you'd probably get more traction from decriminalizing drugs and demilitarizing the police. Those are, apparently, the two largest factors in the first place (the latter, famously and recently, being responsible for more gun deaths than all other causes in one of our more loopy states).
That above is laying aside that 6 out of 10 gun deaths in this country are suicide (and that stat ignores suicide by cop). So, maybe if the above doesn't work...we could get people the fucking shrinks and meds they need for a change........but nooo, this is 'murica.....and that probably sounds too much like socialism.
Mull that over for a minute..only 40% of gun death in america is an issue of crime or malice, and it's centered entirely around people playing cops and robbers. "Gun problem" my ass..
We used to have a good mental health system until Reagan came and fucked it up. When he did a lot of those people
just blended in with society and in the long run it really fucked us over..
