Well, voters should not lose sight of the fact that we vote to express our desires, and if we vote for one who is not desired as a pragmatic strategy, then we may as well give up on seeing any real democracy ever again. Vote for the candidate you like, because the candidate who you can only trust to get things done cannot be trusted with your own interests! Vote for who you really want to see in the White House, because this is your chance to send Congress a message which they will actually read! If we repeatedly elect promising candidates who can't do what they promised, then what we need is a revolution.
If we ever see even a serviceable grade of democracy in this country again, it won't be because we dared to dream when we cast out vote. No, it will be because we held our nose and voted for the candidate who could win and wouldn't appoint more judges who will seek to elevate corporations to a station above our own.
