Personally I think the importance of the QB just outweighs any competitive advantage that free agency attempts to destroy. Great QBs will lead their teams to victory surrounded by different receivers, meaning as long as the QB stays with the team, the team will be successful. You can see that with Brady, Manning (both of them), Roethlisberger, Rodgers, etc.
That and the head coach position create dynasties.
