Good evening my fellow atheists. I am a new member hoping to participate in some good discussion. About me, I was raised in a semi-religious Lutheran household. My family went to church about 75% of the time, but when we missed the main service, I usually attended Sunday School afterward, and received my confirmation.
I say that I was raised in a "semi-religious" household, because science and education was always the dominating theme during my childhood. My dad always said religion is good, as long as you don't think too deep into it. I agree with his assessment of religion, but eventually I thought too deep into it, which is why I'm here now.
I think people should be educated in the philosophies of religion and Christianity because so much of Western Culture is based on it, and to understand why we are the way are, we need to understand the history of Christianity. Having said that, I think it is more important to have a well rounded understanding of other philosophies, science, physics and math in order to know truth.
I'm looking forward to following your forum!
