While I will still stand by my position that far too much of big business is abusive, I do still value the private sector. And just now, I won. Yesterday I went into Walmart and bought a refill card for my cell thinking everything would be fine for another month. Got call this morning from my mom on my land phone that the message said my number was no longer in service? WHAT THE FUCK?
So I call the company up, the amounts on the card you can chose from, do not always match the plans you actually pay for, so it can be that if you pay, you'll be short. Why the fuck would anyone go out of their way to be short? Well, they play that shell game on purpose. Mice print on any contract allows them to manipulate consumers long term into getting so frustrated they will end up getting used to paying more long term.
So I bitched them out, but at the same time letting them know I blame the corporate boardroom and not the employees. As a result she comped the 5 dollars I was short. Big business needs to stop manipulating consumers and put the demand control back into their hands. I am not against businesses making money, I am against getting blindsided.
So while there is lots to complain about about corporate bullies, it is also up to us to use our voices as consumers and workers to let businesses know they depend on us, not the other way around.
