Well, "the" spread depends entirely on who you get it from.
Unless I'm terribly mistaken, they ultimately are derived from how much is bet on one team vs. the other. Given the amount of dead money in sports betting, it really isn't terribly surprising to see "underdogs" beat the "favorites".
If only there were an accurate, objective way to predict games.
The opening spread is usually pretty accurate. It's after the betting gets going that you start seeing the crazy stuff.
Still, here's to hoping the opening spread is dead wrong this time.
