Christianity and Judaism are not polytheistic religions either, but, I think that Islam especially emphasizes the Oneness of God and His indivisibility more so than the other two religions (but I could be wrong). That's what I was trying to say.
Reverendjeremiah, I have seen all those arguments before but this is not the right thread to discuss those topics. Also, it would be better to post the verses one at a time instead posting them all at once in a single post. I think each of them deserve their own separate thread. You quoted too many things at the same time and that's why I'm not willing to answer them anymore.
OnlyNatural, sorry for going off-topic. If you want to ask any other questions about music in Islam then feel free to do so.
Oh yeah? Muslims are polytheism just like the rest. You worship Mohammad as much as you worship God or in this case Allah. Remember the Danish cartoonist? And that's just Muslims in general, you should see Shiite Muslims, specially the Twelver Imamis, they actually have 14 people to hold in a very sacred regard before they get to God.

And as a person who was born and raised in a Muslim country with Twelver Shia majority I can say the hardliners really are against music. And all foreign musics and genres are banned here, 10 to 15 years ago if they caught you with it you'd receive lashes.
Here the concept of cab is slightly different from everywhere else and the cab driver will pick up what ever passengers he can along his route. I was on route to work and a guy who's appearance was screaming his a hardcore muslim hoped in, the cab driver was listening to a music as broadcasting on national radio, he demanded that the driver turn it off otherwise he will get out, and the cab driver just turned off radio.
And don't even let me start on how they get angry when it comes to women singing.
I can't really understand why Muslims (radicals mostly) are against music. Although this is not an issue in many muslim countries.
This reminds me of Tenacious D's The Pick of Destiny, it goes like this when the father enters the scene:
You've disobeyed my orders son,
Why were you ever born?
Your brother's ten times better than you,
Jesus loves him more.
This music that you play for us
Comes from the depths of hell.
Rock and roll's the devil's work,
He wants you to rebel.
You'll become a mindless puppet;
Beelzebub will pull the strings!
Your heart will lose direction,
And chaos it will bring.
You'd better shut your mouth,
You better watch your tone!
You're grounded for a week with no telephone!
Don't let me hear you cry,
Don't let me hear you moan!
You gotta praise The Lord when you're in my home!
In the deep forest by a yearnings side
Is a flower growing in the still of the night.
Moonlit night with her would blend - if you break her...
Your life must end!
Is a flower growing in the still of the night.
Moonlit night with her would blend - if you break her...
Your life must end!
