Atlas, before you continue your diatribe for a lost cause that others tried to make before. I have the diaries of my grandfather, penned down in the trenches of WWI. Shrapnel rain makes up a consierable part of the narrative. Charges do too. God is mentioned zero times.
And that's how I remember him. Jew. Survived the trenches of the Eastern front of 1914, survived the Gestapo. Survived emmigration. Told me about god zero times. Taught me some dirty songs from the trenches though. Grandmother did too. From before the first war. Grandfather's last words were hitting on the nurse caring for him when he lay on his death bed. God, zero.
That's also how much I care for religion. Or fear any god for that matter. Zero.
