Each Christian probably has their own personalised, edited version of the bible in their mind. They decide which bits were from God and which ones not so much, using the criteria Alex suggested.

Things which are no longer socially acceptable came from man.

The only right answer is that it all came from man, further than that you've just got people claiming all sorts of things and none of them have any evidence.

Whatever happened, it's all gone through the filter of man.
