Seems like pissing off 21% of the adults in any country is a quick way to not get elected next cycle.
Australia doesn't have a mandatory vote. It's a misnomer.
What is mandatory is firstly, registering on the electoral roll.
What else is mandatory is attending a polling booth and getting your name crossed off the roll as attending.
When you're given a ballot paper, what you do with it is up to you. There is no obligation to vote.
Just thought I'd clear that up. Many people think that voting in Oz is compulsory. It's splitting hairs, perhaps, but you don't actually have to vote, just attend the polling booth and get your name crossed off.
There are many intelligent Christians, no doubt, but an "intellectual Christian", is surely an oxymoron.
