We are talking a spectrum, here. Sure, there are European countries that are way closer to the socialist end of that spectrum, but the point is that some of the things Bernie supports don't represent a 180 degree turn for our current system.

No, the US isn't even close to European conservatives. That's why Bernie is considered a dogmatic socialist by the mainstream. Obama would be considered a moderate conservative on social issues here. If you strip him of his war record, that is.
