I was just trying to say that conceptualizing voting or not voting as a broader statement cuts both ways. One can not vote for anyone and say "I didn't ask for any of this", and someone can say "well, you didn't try to stop it either." One can vote and say "I did my part to try to stop the other guy's shit," and someone can say "so, you mean you asked for all this shit?"
I'm of the "voting is a civic duty" bent myself, but that's just a personal opinion. I didn't mean to put down anyone who doesn't vote, regardless of the reason; rather, I just meant to say, essentially, that not voting because you don't want to feel complicit in getting HDawg elected and then conceptualizing it positively is, I don't know... it rings hollow to me, especially when I feel that it's clear that, however much one feels "Ideal Candidate" >>>> "Bernie Sanders" >>>> "Hillary Clinton", that person should also feel "Hillary Clinton" >>>> "whoever the republican nominee is". I'll be voting for that last >>>>, thankyouverymuch.
I don't disagree that Clinton is a better candidate than whoever comes out of the GOP clown car. As long as it remains true that my state is a safe blue state, I have the luxury of being able to vote my conscience (or not), and I'll not vote for the least bad lizard no matter who it happens to be.
In addition, I'm increasingly feeling that the US election system is fundamentally broken, and I'm perfectly happy to deny lending it legitimacy with my personal participation.
I wonder how many states would stay blue or stay red if less people thought this way
