The House does look steep, but don't they hold elections every 2 years? With a dedicated effort, the majority could still change or shift drastically by the end of the next presidential term. Yes, Gerrymandering makes that harder, but if it were a perfect system then party majorities would literally never change. If the voters decide to get together and do something, they actually kind of can. Our democracy sucks, but it hasn't been totally demolished yet.
If you really have surrendered to the status quo and will vote for the safest candidate just because you think the better one can't win, you are part of the problem. That's pretty much exactly what every establishment politician wants you to do. It's almost as good as just taking your vote away.
