Could it be that your timeline is a little bit off? By about a year? I mean, not that you want to vote for your hero in the fall of 2017 and get all disappointed because they tell you, there is no election.
The election is this November 8, 2016. The new President takes office at noon on January 20, 2017. One year later is January 20, 2018.
