No, it's not. It's people mistaking a loudmouth for having guts. It's people seeing their dearly held prejudices defended and endorsed by a presidential candidate. It's people, not having a life to speak of, finally finding a community to share their hatred with. Not mutually exclusive groups.
I don't think so. He entered a field of 17 as the only man with real name recognition. And he behaves like the reality TV star he is. It's entertainment. Otherwise those with the dearly held prejudices would still be off in a corner with David Duke, who has been equally loud, just not equally heard.
Besides, although there is certainly prejudice involved many are just blue collar guys the economy has left behind. No one has drawn manufacturing jobs out of the hat for them, but they believe that Trump will.
