Well the problem is the image associated with the burqa. Take the buddhist symbol that was reversed and then used by the Nazis to make the swastika (sp?). That symbol has fallen into oblivion even though it has nothing to do with Nazis. It's all about what the image is. Burqas are a symbol of oppression and religious fanatism and that is why it is seen as nocive. Freedom to dress, like every freedom in practice, is limited.
