The way an atheist looks at the world is sad? How so?
We simply do not believe in any gods.
I for one can see the beauty in the immensity of the universe, and how tiny we are, and lucky to be a part of it. I can see the beauty in life, food, drink, art, sex, relations, sound, color, taste. All of everything is vast, and there is no need to add a deity. That's what separates us. Belief. Everything else you see, I see. I'm content with "real" and it's immensity and don't need to add the deity woo factor. Life minus faith is not sad due to lack of woo. It can be sad, but the cause may be irrelevant to the lack of a god. Heart break, chemicals in the brain, illness, etc, which don't equal to lack of gods, may cause sadness in believers and non-believers alike. The difference is we don't rely on a fairy to fix it for us.
