Of course not. However, for his own sense of self respect he needs to understand that he did not enter into any sort of "contract" with his power-crazed parents. They presented an ultimatum and he has little choice but to comply. He is not an equal party to this agreement.
They are the ones who are misstating their action as a "contract" in order to pretend to themselves that they are acting for his good and not their own.
It's typical religious bullying. I wonder what the minister would say if he knew about this arrangement. I imagine like most "men of god" he'd be fine with it because most of them are scumbags....but maybe ( just maybe) he'd tell the parents that they are doing more harm than good in the long run. Red is not going to simply become a good xtian at this point. He is too angry and the shit doesn't make sense to a rational mind anyway.
