You see, music has the ability to free your heart and set your mind ablaze with ideas. And to Islam and Christianity, unsanctioned ideas are a VERY bad thing. You can't have people thinking because they will realize how full of shit you are.

The average person, if they listen to the same message over and over again...there is a high chance it will cause bias in their future opinions.
Songs that have lyrics that advocate a dangerous lifestyle like Rihanna, Lady Gaga, ...etc. can corrupt people if they listen to these songs over and over again. Unfortunately these songs have such a catchy tune that it is hard to resist. It is the negative elements in these songs that are against the religion.
Now there is nothing wrong with classical music, like Beethoven, bach, ..etc. So long as these songs don't tamper your emotions. As I mentioned before, music is like a drug. Used in the wrong way can harm you. Since this is a religion to help make peace with yourself, there is a firm stance on what is right and what is wrong so your mind, body and soul is not harmed.
