Saudi Stooges (Wahaabis/Salafis) are everywhere. Here's another way that you can make their brains explode. Well, two ways actually. They (the DAESH types) are totally against music right?
I would inform them of the Avedis Zildjian Company. A company which makes drums that was founded in 1623 in the Ottoman Empire, it helps to dispel the mantra that the Ummah has always considered musical instruments to beHaram. The Caliphate didn't stop Avedis Zildjian from making quality drums.
I would also direct people to this interview where Yusuf Islam touches on the history of the guitar towards the end of this interview (from 11:55 in the video), mentioned how the medieval Oud evolved to be become a guitar:
Mr. Islam is a nice guy. He must be sincere because he recited Shahada right? I mean, that's your standard?
P.s. Whenever I hear people say musical instruments are Haram I want to squirm because it's ignoring history.
