Obviously this is fucked up from every angle. I'd never go to a country that has laws like this. We need to stop being allies with this place until they learn some basic human rights, and stop getting their rules out of an ancient book.
I won't deny that it's a dilemma (even within the ranks of Muslims); many believe in the whole faith but stop at such sentence:
-They either madly go extreme in their execution for such sentences
-They either Liberally abandon it though keep on believing in the rest of the faith, and that would expose a very hypocritical nature
-They would ignore it, and tell each person what they want to hear
You can see the first group composing "Salafi/Wahhabi/Shiite Twelver" faiths.
You can see the second group composing "Arabic secular parties and movements".
You can see the final group making up the normal-everyday Islamist such as "the Muslim Brotherhood".
Now, ain't that a big nasty mess..
As for the sentence of lashing, it's all about the contract; Rob. By contract I mean that of marriage.
The people who have sex without a contract are committing a crime against their society beause of the children that might be produced from the affair.
Nobody wants bastard children running around with their parents missing, and assuming that everybody will behave and preserve the family intact is just imaginary thinking. Yep, soccer moms and single mothers go through hell too, and let's be honest: the laws of today didn't help a lot with that; the phenomena still exists and is still happening. And you have mothers who dump their infant children in the garbage too; we don't wanna be feminists and forget about that, women abuse the children too. A child without a policy is weaker and less protected indeed.
Islam is a religion that is fair towards orphans, it doesn't make any sense if God let the misery many fathers and mothers inflict on their children to be legal.
When I see the look on an orphan's face, I understand why lashing is the penalty.
People should be responsibility and should take responsibility for their actions, the contract of marriage is the policy that insure that.
Losty
Yes; for rape, only one side would get the lashing, the other side is the victim in this case.
