It's good that you're anticipating a world of shit.
That's what I did when I began to give up smoking. I told myself on the first day that in the weeks to come there's going to be days when work is going to be horrible, the girls I'm texting aren't going to text back, someone in my family might even die but I'm not going to smoke again no matter what, no excuses, no pipes, no weed, no shishas no vaporizers nothing that causes anything that even looks like smoke to go in and out of my mouth.
I had a similar experience with painkillers too, my wisdom tooth was growing sideways inside my jaw, I spent a whole summer high as fuck on several different strong painkillers. I did genuinely need them and I didn't even know they were addictive so I was shocked when I still felt the urge to take them after the pain had gone. I had the weirdest dreams ever on those painkillers and it would take me 4 hours of masturbation to orgasm sometimes.
I've pretty much felt the same through all the stuff I've given up, caffeine, nicotine, painkillers and alcohol. Smoking weed to an extent too and other illegal drugs but I didn't find them to be all that addictive for some reason.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.
