So I'm about to get confirmed

I'm entering into the stage where I'm a confirmed Catholic, and when I told my mom about me being atheist, she started crying because I wouldn't, "Know the love of jesus christ!" How do I get out of this whole thing?

I was confirmed in the United Methodist Church before I had told my parents that I didn't believe in God, and  it literally had no impact on my life, other than the church pamphlets they kept mailing me for several years.  I did it to please the parents, and it was no big deal.  Just go through the motions for your parents, and then officially leave the church at your earliest convenience.

It does impact your life.
