I'm entering into the stage where I'm a confirmed Catholic, and when I told my mom about me being atheist, she started crying because I wouldn't, "Know the love of jesus christ!" How do I get out of this whole thing?

When I was going to be confirmed Protestant little over 22 years ago, I told my mum that I'm an atheist, and she sighed a little and said, come on, it's a family tradition and we've already decided on the cakes. Cakes are arguably the bigger deal in my family than religion. So I got confirmed, the pastor knowing pretty much what I thought of the affair, which made it kind of funny. No biggie, you can just do it if you want to avoid conflict. It doesn't mean anything after all - except that in some countries like Germany, you get automatically deducted your Church tax
We'd have to know more about your background to judge whether rebelling is worth it.

Maybe if you've already told her that you are an atheist, you could ask your mother what the point is of you being confirmed. After all, surely the whole point of it is that you are confirmed as being Catholic?

Jeez how hard can it be not to do it? I mean what have you been doing in Sunday school not confronting your "teacher"? These people are so dumb and in this day of age you can simply use internet memes do debunk them so they kick you out.

Bible Belt crazy is usually protestant. When I was in TX, Catholicism were viewed as a weird not-really-christian sect.

I was, for the most part, raised catholic. Received 1st communion when I was in the second grade. I got confirmed in 8th grade. I never saw the point of it. When I was in my early 20's I removed myself from the catholic church simply by not going to church anymore. Nothing bad happened as a result.

It's pretty sad if she would force you to go through a meaningless ritual just for her benefit.

Especially since the Catholic Church is a criminal organisation lobbying to protect child molesters. Why would she want you to be a part of that?
