There is, actually, but it's somewhat unconventional. The idea, just like referendum, or direct democracy comes from ancient Athens - basically it's lottery, instead of election/nomination of government officials. Kind of like jury duty - a bit of pain in the a** perhaps, but if selected - you have to go and be a politician for a certain number of years.
That way you eliminate careering politicians and the influence of money on political process (probably not entirely, as there would still be lobbyists, but without possibility of legal donations to politicians' campaigns, they'd face an uphill struggle).
Of course - that would NEVER work...
