I think the issue of 'causing offense' should lie with the woman who was referred to as the 'angel of god'. If that woman is not offended, than neither am I.
As for me - it would depend to what extent I put myself in harms way.
For instance: If I ran into a burning building to rescue some christian's baby girls from a horrific fire, and the result of that action was that I had a third degree scar all over my face and my thumbs had to be amputated - well, you can be pretty damn sure that I'd be pretty fucking offended if all they had to say was, "we thank god for sending that nice man to rescue our babies." Mostly because I'd be thinking - "hey can you get your fucking god to perform a miracle on me and heal my body??!" "No?" "You can't?!" "Well, how nice of your god to send the mortal in to save the babies!" F-YOU!
But, I wouldn't assume that everyone should be offended if I wasn't remotely injured.
On a scale of wrong-doing by christians ... that's pretty low on the meter.
