Liberal Democrats pledge to keep Britain in the EU after next election
This would give them a democratic mandate to stop the Brexit from happening. Unfortunately we have only just had a general election, but that's not to say that there can't be a vote of no confidence in the current Tory government. It would require some Tories to rebel though, but I am sure that there are enough pro EU Tory landowners now suddenly financially worse off because they will lose payments from the EU's Common Agricultural Policy.
Even life long Tory voters like my mother would vote for the Lib Dems (she was the one that emailed me about this). The Leave vote on the other hand would be split between traditional Labour and Tory voters. The pro EU SNP would undoubtedly offer to join a coalition with the Lib Dems in such an event. The Lib Dems used to be popular in Scotland.
