The mod tag is the tag for the moderator notices. Adding mod approval for pictures is ridiculous. But if it came to that I am sure they'd manage no problem. There's eight moderators and five admins.
mod approval would have been just for iffy/borderline pics. no need to have the mods looking at kittens and turtles in easter baskets
