You're completely missing my point. A society that hands everything to people on a silver platter at the expense of giving them the opportunity to earn it, leads to a society that will become lazy. Look at the way people abuse benefits in Britain. It's easier for a great many people to sit on the dole instead of actually going out and working. The tories have at least attempted to change this mentality in their tenure.
I'm not saying we should abandon people and let them starve. By all means heal the world but do not do so at the expense of society as a whole. I believe in raising those worse off to your level, and giving them the opportunity to earn it, instead of handing out rewards for no effort at the expense of those who do work for it. It's not because of some noble idealism where I want everyone in society to work hard. It's because if it is any other way people have no incentive to do so.
