Ultimately, it doesn't matter . None of those jobs are coming back because they cannot be done here by Americans as cheaply as they can be done overseas, not by a long margin.
Perhaps when the American standard of living crosses the Chinese (et la) standard of living as ours drops and theirs rises.
We have to adapt and do things that cheap foreign labor can't, because we simply cannot compete with them.
If somehow we managed to wrestle those jobs back, they'll be done here, by robots not Jane Sixpack.
The sooner Jane Sixpack realizes this the better off she will be.
