Because grasping at straws is part of the game. The other part is hard studying with conjectures that may or may not be tested and are or are not compatible with current scientific theories.
That said, supposing what zero mass objects may do, etc, might yield additional insights into the mysterious force of gravity, of which no cause has been definitively fingered.
Or it might just be a total waste of time.
