I like both of your His Dark Materials choices!
If not one of those, I currently like the name Kvothe, (pronounced a lot like quoth but with a little v in there) from the Name of the Wind. Or Fitz, a much simpler name, and a great protagonist from Robin Hobbs Assassin series. Fitz just means son of, but then you can add your own fun to it, if you want, lol.
But as others say, it's so personal. You gotta try names out and see what you feel fits.....haha, Fits? See. Fitz.
