1) Child-molesters who kill their victims. If you're both a pedophile and a murderer, that's it, don't pass GO, don't collect two hundred dollars.
2) People involved in murder-for-hire. if you value money more than life, you're incurable.
I will freely admit that my rationales in both cases are based emotionally and can't really be defended logically, so don't ask me to do so.
In all other capital cases, I think life imprisoned on an island, in general population, with livestock, seeding and building supplies flown in every so often so the inmates can assure their own food and shelter, is fine. Maybe give 'em some books, too, I dunno. Make sure the island is beyond swimming distance, and use Coast Guard patrols as training for the CG recruits and midshipmen.
We don't often agree but I will this time. I'll give you 0.75 of a kudos for your post... I don't know if you are a parent, but I am a father to 2 daughters aged 13 and 14 years of age. I don't care what the colour of the assaillant is, if anything like that should ever happen to my daughters like that, I personally would swing for the cnut. I would wait of course to see if justice has been done. Either way, they attack my daughters, either the state executes them or I will. It may seem strange for you to read that, but I am very protective of my daughters, as I was my mother and grandmother (them being only 5ft 0inches tall and me being 6ft 2inches tall) but I will not let anyone do that.
