You've got to be joking, unless you were the Kray Twins, Charles Peterson, Charles Manson, Peter Sutcliffe, Hindley and the jock, you are not going to get life in prison in England. He probably pleaded mitigating circumstances i.e. he was a refugee and he is also a practicing Muslim so, there are two factors that stopped the judge from giving him 25+ years. The cnut should have fucking hung by his neck, just like his fucking religion states in the Koran.
