Hyper sensitive to light, smell, and sound he once designed a cardboard box to fit over his computer terminal so he could block out all other light sources. He coupled that with a set of heavy duty noise suppressors, like airport workers wear, so he could withdraw into his own little world. I did think he was super-intelligent but he was so difficult to deal with that his co-workers hated him as much as the management. His family had an order of protection against him and he was homeless. He lived in his car in the office parking lot.
Yeah he sounds like he had it about as intense on the spectrum as you can get it. Sounds like he was low functioning in non-intellectual ways.
He once re-wrote the instructions for operating a calculator in a phonetic version of English which he had devised. He had grammatical and syntax rules for it and everything. This is why I feel he was highly intelligent but, as you say, socially dysfunctional. He was arrested multiple times by the police, once I recall, for riding his bicycle on the sidewalk which did not seem to be against any law on the books. They kept in in jail for a week before the judge threw out the charge. One time he walked into a pizzeria and told the owner that his pizza sucked. The owner punched him in the face and the cops arrested him for "disturbing the peace."
