Indeed, Muslims will grow more than twice as fast as the overall world population between 2010 and 2050 and, in the second half of this century, will likely surpass Christians as the world’s largest religious group.
You know how ambiguous that argument is? First - likely within the next 34 years is looking into a crystal ball, since all kinds of shit can happen in that many years. Same with economical predictions. I still remember the estimated growth between 2007 and 2008. Well, until the crash happened they may have had a point. But shit happens, doesn't it?
Secondly, christians are a shrinking group, since they mostly live in the first world where people turn away from religion in droves. One of the reasons why the Vatican is looking for Asia and Aouth America for expansion as well as the Evangelicals. The majority of Catholics doesn't live in Europe of the USA anymore but in other parts of the world.
Third, it says nothing on Asia.
And fourth, your argument of having three or four wives is as ignorant as they come. For one there are laws in many muslim countries against poligamy, same as with mormons in the USA, who can't practice that tradition either. And secondly, how many women are supposed to live in muslim majority countries? Three or four times as many in relation to men as the average male/female birth ratio, which always was pretty much at 50 percent?
There's also a reason why people in the third world tend to reproduce at a higher ratio than in the first world. Infant mortality is still a much larger problem than in our parts. And that not only goes for majority muslim countries but for every part of the third world. Apart from children being sort of an old age provision for many of these countries, which don't have any social security system to speak of. The children are supposed to take care of the parents as they always did in these parts of the world.
