It's of interest to me because I'm currently trying to get the information I need to get my own German passport. I was hoping to stay in the UK a bit longer but we might well be moving back at the beginning of next year. But one thing that stood out was this:

“There’s a lot of concern in my academic field as to where our funding will come from in future, as a lot of it is EU money,” Bowers said. “And for me to be able to compete for jobs in Europe without the disadvantage of a non-EU passport is hugely important.”
