Extent religions could have mythological components though.
A key tenet of Mormonism, the Lamanites in the US are entirely mythological as the Mormons have nothing on them. Not a single artifact, no ruins, no mention of them in Native American lore, no skeletons, just nothing and more nothing.
Christianity has incorporated mythological components too, Samson for instance, losing his strength when his locks are shorn is a retread of a sun deity myth. (you can't look at the sun on a clear day at noon because of the blinding glare, that is, the 'dazzle' is the hair, you see, then at sunset, the glare is removed, the sun is weakened, no 'hair' now and it is safe to look at)

The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
