If God gave you free will to choose or not choose him, but then tells you that you will go to hell if you don't, what friggin choice, as a Christian, do you suppose you actually have? There are so many Christians in the world because there are so many people in the world with serious emotional hangups. I think religion is an evolutionary development that sprang from the fact that primates have such a hard time believing in a world without an angry alpha male.
