This is my biggest bitch at the moment.
If the same number of people had shown up this time for Hillary as they did last time for Obama, we'd all be excited about our next SCOTUS Justice because the Democratic majority in the Senate would allow Hillary to appoint pretty much anyone she wanted.
Instead, laziness and complacency has given us Trump, a GOP House and Senate, and a conservative Supreme Court for the next generation.
We can blame all the feckless assholes who voted for Trump, but they exercised their right to vote. They got out there and did their part for their cause. Instead of talking about a landslide victory and the repudiation of a crass liar who appealed to the worst in us, we are now dealing with some very dark times ahead.
It is difficult for me to muster sympathy for those who are going to get hit the hardest by this because due to their complacency, we're all going to pay the price.
Yeah, Hillary wasn't an exciting candidate. And sure, if Mitt Romney was running this time around, maybe a third party vote wouldn't have been so dangerous. But Donald Fucking Trump was the GOP's nominee. How do you not show up? When there was a chance to win the Senate, how do you not show up?
The Democratic party has serious problems, but none that can't be overcome by a get out the vote campaign starting a year from now, and then three years from now. A couple of short months ago there was serious discussion about the death of the Republican party. Well, look what happens when you don't vote.
