It's just a huge pet peeve of mine when people refer to Muslim as a race. Just sounds ignorant and very typical American.
No, it doesn't sound ignorant because the same sentiment is behind it. Regardless if someone hates muslims, jews, Mexicans or cyclists. It's always the same primitive instinct of hating the other. That's not a pet peeve -pardon my french - that's mirror jerking over semantics.
And as I've repeated 3 times now, I do think it's just as wrong to discriminate based on religious beliefs as it is to discriminate based on race. The fact that I'm pointing out that Muslim is a religion, does not diminish how wrong it is to discriminate against them. My sentiments are the same as yours.
Holy moly.
As for whether or not it sounds ignorant to refer to a religious belief as a race, well we'll just have to disagree on that.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
