He has done time - on two separate occasions - for ripping off children's charities, and is still doing these sort of things. I have the news article about him, which I have absolutely no compunctions about sharing around with his business contacts. I feel they deserve to know the character of people with whom they do business.
And C_L, I'm going to back out of this conversation. It's really nothing personal, but you do seem insistent on turning everything I say into a personal assessment of your beliefs, which is sort of what I mentioned earlier, when all I wanted to do was show you a glimpse of the effects of this crap from the other side of the fence.
Fair enough. Sorry if I misunderstood something. It just seemed like you were saying people don't pray for others except for selfish reasons. Maybe some people do I guess, but that hasn't been my own experience, and it just seemed like you were making a general statement about everyone who prays.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
