I think one of the things which made Trump's promises to bring back jobs was the sluggish employment situation. I'm afraid that's just an after effect of the 2008 crash, and promises notwithstanding, Trump isn't going to be able to do a damn thing to improve those numbers.

I put less stock in there being specific factors which led to Hillary's defeat than I do that it was just that time for a swing to the right. After 4-8 years of continued stagnation, things will shift again to the left.
