The election of Obama was supposed to bring about improved race relations in the country, but after eight years this attitude exists even more as they tear to shreds anyone who tries to work with "the man" to help solve the problem. Harvey is interested in using Trump to advance his own religious agenda. The proclaimed concern over inner-city conditions is simply a fig-leaf of "respectability".
