We do more for charity than any other group in the world, yet you're complaining that we somehow don't do enough because we believe in having beautiful things in our churches as a way to give reverence to God? This seems a bit silly to me. Yes, the tours are "free", but the point is to leave donations in the collections baskets, if you can. Just like at mass. I'm sure if they were paid tours, you would be complaining that we charge people for it lol. Once you've decided to villainize an entire group of people, it becomes a case of "damned if you do and damned if you don't," and you'll always find things to complain about them because you've already made up your mind that they're no good.
(the "you" I use here is a general "you" and not aimed at anyone here specifically)
I also think it's very much out of place to insinuate that I'm a hypocrite for saying it's sad to see someone spending $100,000 on one cheeto, and that doing so is in any way comparable to how we are as Catholics. For reasons I've already explained.

"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
